Join the Conversation: Intercultural faux pas and the language of civility

Communication is more than just words, and understanding intercultural dynamics is key to making meaningful connections in today’s globalised world.

On Monday, 26 May, Dr Ines Karin Böhner of the University of Stuttgart, co-author of English for Science and Technology (Hanser, 2024), will deliver an eye-opening lecture, Intercultural Dimensions, at our Zoom-based English Café.

Dr Böhner will explore how, even when people share a common language—English—differences in cultural backgrounds can lead to misinterpretations, communication barriers and misunderstandings. This session is designed for anyone eager to sharpen their intercultural communication skills, whether in professional settings or everyday interactions.

The lecture will take place from 6 to 7 pm via Zoom, with no registration required. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with an expert, gain valuable insights and expand your perspective on global communication.

Don’t miss out! Mark your calendar and be ready to learn, reflect and contribute to the discussion.
