It was in 2012 that the FernUniversität study centre in Frankfurt am Main took on Regional Centre status, and now, a decade later, “Campus Frankfurt” is celebrating a string of successes.
Of the 7000 students on its books, most live in Hesse; however, scores of international students are also registered there as the campus’s central location makes jetting in and out for exams as easy as pie. Some hail from Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland and other parts of Europe. There is even one student registered there who resides on Christmas Island!
Students can opt for face-to-face consultation if they prefer pre-pandemic norms; however, assistance is also still offered via Zoom and over the telephone.
Dr Adrian Jitschin, who has headed the regional centre-cum-campus since 2013, says that the campus has gone from strength to strength. “There is a wide range of courses one can take on our campus: from subject-specific bridging courses to courses on programming languages and much else in between.”
To help celebrate the Frankfurt Campus’s decade of excellence, the Zoom-based English Café will feature a special session on Hesse in general and Frankfurt in particular on Monday 12 December, from 17.00 to 18.00.
All FernUni students are invited to log in to chime in on the history, culture and overall highlights of the state that (almost) has it all.
Practise speaking English, and meet your fellow students.
