Coffee time for Psychology students: Come and sip from the font of knowledge

The CATALPA COFFEE study has now been extended to students participating in the course English for Psychology. This is your chance to participate in a research study on the use of artificial intelligence in formative assessment.  This innovative project offers you a chance to refine your academic writing skills using cutting-edge AI technology.

The study focuses on a writing exercise taken from the course English for Humanities and Social Sciences.  You will hardly be tossed into the deep end without a care, however, for there is a brief lecture and plenty of preparatory material that you can explore, if need be, before you submit your work. Participation grants you access to the COFFEE AI tool, which delivers automated feedback on your writing. Whether refining the structure of your text, resource integration, grammar or diction, the tool supports unlimited revisions and resubmissions, enabling iterative skill development. After using COFFEE AI, we invite you to share your insights on its efficacy as a formative assessment resource.
